dc.description.abstractA partir de los lineamientos generales del documento La hora de la igualdad: Brechas por cerrar, caminos por abrir, presentado por la CEPAL en su trigésimo tercer periodo de sesiones (Brasilia, 2010), en el presente libro se pone un foco en los vínculos entre el empleo y la protección social, así como en su rol en la generación y reproducción de desigualdades en América Latina. Con ello, se busca ofrecer evidencia sobre la forma en que se originan y transmiten las desigualdades en la articulación entre el mercado de trabajo y la protección social, pero también se propone establecer un marco de políticas que permita mejorar las sinergias entre ambas esferas. El estudio responde a la necesidad de situar el empleo y la protección social en el marco más general de desarrollo planteado por la CEPAL, que permita avanzar en la construcción de una mirada más dinámica. Esta mirada contribuye a saldar la antigua deuda en el sentido de fortalecer los puentes entre el diagnóstico y las políticas públicas, tradicionalmente diseñadas y gestionadas en estos campos por institucionalidades muy diferentes y con escaso diálogo entre sí.
